[James F. Cook (1940- )]. 1942-1993.

This collection contains the papers of long-time Floyd College (now Georgia Highlands College) history professor James F. Cook. The collection is focused on Cook's interest in Georgia political history, especially gubernatorial history. His papers contain an assortment of correspondence, press releases, and notes. The majority of the materials, however, consist of newspaper articles. Cook's research for a book on the political career of former Georgia governor Carl Sanders predominates. While the collection ranges from 1942-1993, the vast majority of the materials are from the 1960s. Of special interest are copies of letters from President Johnson, a condolence letter to Jacqueline Kennedy on the death of her husband, and materials focusing on civil rights and the 1966 Georgia governor's race.
