The Kathrine B. Tiffany Papers contain correspondence between Kathrine, George W. Starcher, the president of the University of North Dakota, and Chester Fritz about the funding and construction of the Chester Fritz Library, the Chester Fritz Auditorium, and other improvements at the University of North Dakota, dating from 1957 to 1972. An addition includes a biography and transcript of the funeral service for Kathrine and correspondence.

Kathrine Belanger Tiffany was born in 1878 in Neillsville, Wisconsin to Ferdinand Belanger and Margery Johnston Belanger. The family moved to North Dakota and purchased a quarter section in Morgan Township, Traill County in 1884. Kathrine received a bachelor's in English in 1902 and a master's in English in 1908, both from the University of North Dakota. Chester Fritz was born March 25, 1892, in Buxton, North Dakota. Chester Fritz worked in various occupations in North Dakota beginning at the age of 12. He attended the University of North Dakota from 1908-1910. He moved to Seattle and graduated from the University of Washington in 1914. He worked with the Fisher Flouring Mills Company in Seattle which led him to Hong Kong.
