Reid H. Montgomery papers, 1910-1993.

Correspondence, clippings, programs, photographs, scrapbooks, speech notes, and printed items relating to Montgomery's involvement with S.C. Press Association, for which he served as director, 1942-1955, and secretary-manager, 1965-1988; South Carolina Scholastic Press Association, for which he served as secretary-manager, 1965-1988; and National Council of College Publications Advisers, [later became College Media Advisers], for which he served as vice chairman, 1963-1965, and president, 1970-1971. Collection reflects Montgomery's work as an advocate for freedom of information and his journalistic career at Pinewood, Sumter, and Columbia. It contains examples of court cases and professional writings related to the topic of Fair Trial-Free Press, honors for his contributions to the field of journalism, and items related to his involvement with professional organizations. The collection also documents Montgomery's role in the development of journalism programs in each school where he taught.

The Florida State College for Women (FSCW) Artist Series began in 1923. Dean Ella Opperman was the first person in charge of organizing the series. The series was intended to bring renowned artists to FSCW. After FSCW became Florida State University (FSU), the FSU School of Music managed the series.
