Copy of letter from Thomas Patten to Samuel Johnson, September 4, 1781 [manuscript], 1819.

Patten mentions passing through Stratford and paying his "tribute of gratitude and reverence to the tomb of our first original poet, as well as to his statue and picture." Makes reference to Corbett's verse about Burbage's portrayal of Richard III. Citation "G.M. April 1819, p. 291" suggests that Harwood made his copy from the Gentleman's magazine publication of this letter.
