Proctor indicates that he has been disabled from all kinds of work, except law. He says he will try to do something for the New monthly next month, but that Hall should make his arrangements without him.

Bryan Waller Procter (pseud. Barry Cornwall), English minor poet and lawyer. He was a close friend of several more prominent Romantics, including William Hazlitt, Charles Lamb, and Leigh Hunt.
