The Fannie Mahood Heath Papers contain a biography and genealogy of Fannie, writings, correspondence, drawings by Fannie about native plants, newspaper articles about Fannie and her husband's homestead and "Perennial Flowers for North Dakota Homes" by A.F. Yeager and Fannie Mahood Heath. It also includes photographs of Fannie's gardens taken by her daughter Pearl Heath Frazer. The entire collection was compiled by Fannie's daughter Pearl Heath Frazer.

Fannie Mahood Heath was born in Wykoff, Minnesota. After she married Frank Heath, she moved in 1880 to Grand Forks, ND at the age of 17 where they homesteaded west of the city. Upon arriving, she decided that the farm needed protection from the wind. She first planted lilac bushes and fir saplings. The firs quickly died, but the lilac trees survived.
