This document is an original agreement, dated February 19, 1780, between Evan Shelby and Pierce Wall to manufacture rye whiskey. Wall was to be allowed the fifth part of the whiskey distilled through the arrangement, divided weekly. Wall agreed to cut his own firewood, and to make malt and two gallons of whiskey for every bushel of rye he distilled.
