Chester Quarterly Meeting was established by Philadelphia Yearly Meeting in 1683; its first business sessions opened in 12mo 1683/84. In 1800, the name of this meeting was changed to Concord. After the Separation, there were two Concord Quarterly Meetings. The Hicksite and Orthodox branches merged in 1955, and several monthly meetings were transfered from Concord to the newly-formed Chester Quarterly Meeting or Haverford Quarterly Meeting. West Chester Monthly Meeting was established in 1956 by Concord Quarterly Meeting out of West Chester Preparative Meeting (Hicksite) at the dissolution of Birmingham Monthly Meeting, the former Hicksite meeting. In 1964, West Chester Monthly Meeting merged with Birmingham Monthly Meeting at West Chester, the former Orthodox meeting. West Chester is currently an active monthly meeting. The Friends' Boarding Home of Concord Quarterly Meeting was established in 1891 in West Chester, Pennsylvania, for women only. The first male guest was admitted in 1894, and over the following decade the admission of men became more frequent. The Home first was located in a rented building.
