Petition of John Culpeper, Francis Brent and Foulke Harbach, "gentleman of name and blood," asking for the king's pardon from "burning in the hand," the sentence of the Lord Chief Justice of the Court of Common Pleas, John Finch, after they were found guilty of manslaughter at the last assizes at Taunton, Somerset, [July 27?, 1635]. Followed by, in different hands but on the same bifolium: Ra[lph] Freman's note, December 3, 1635, requesting a certificate from Lord Finch; Finch's certificate, December 8, 1635; and the King's assent to a pardon, signed by Edward Powell, December 14, 1635.
