Mountain Park-Hayden area extends west from Columbia Cemetery to the city limits, from College Avenue north to Pleasant Street. Dewey Avenue-Portland Place area extends from 4th Street on the west to Broadway on the east. Scattered Downtown resources lie in the periphery of previous survey areas or were otherwise omitted from piror surveys. Southern Mapleton Hill neighborhood is the area between 4th Street and Broadway on the west and east, and between Mapleton Avenue and Spruce Street on the north and south.

The Municipal Building is an excellent example of the Internationl Style, as reflected in its flat roof, ribbons of windows, emphasis of volume, and the windowless expanse of stonework on the original entry bay.
