The Boulderado Hotel opened with a New Year's Eve Ball in 1908-1909, and was Boulder's first luxury hotel. This five-story hotel located at 2115 13th Street was the brainchild of three prominent men, Fred Moys, Jonas Bergheim and Walter Nichols, who urged all Boulderites to subscribe to a $100,000 fund drive in 1906. Elmore Petersen (Peterson) came to the Univ. of Colo., Boulder in 1915 as secretary of the Bureau of Business and Commercial Development.
