Boulder (Colo.) record of climatological observations tables 1948-1976.

This folder contains a notebook of copies of monthly climatological report forms with daily data on temperature, hourly precipitation, amounts of precipitation (by type), and other notable weather conditions for each day, from the Boulder, Colo., observation station, for the period from Dec. 1948 through Aug. 1976. Observations were made at 5 or 5:30 p.m. each day. At the end of this notebook are pink carbon copy sheets which contain monthly summaries of the above report forms, for Aug. 1948 through Oct. 1951. Observations were made at the Central Fire Station under the direction of the Boulder Fire Dept. chief from 1958 until May 1970, when they were made by the guard force at the National Bureau of Standards.

From 1947 until 1970, the official observations of weather in Boulder were made under the direction of the Boulder fire chief, at the central fire station. The Boulder Fire Department also maintained a weather station at the South Side Fire Station starting in July 1958. Prior to 1947, observations were made from the homes of volunteering citizens of Boulder. (Cf. station history in BHS 351 b1 f6.).
