Eldora photographs [ca. 1898 and 1938]. [ca. 1898 and 1938]

Print #6 shows Eldorado Avenue, main street of infant Eldora, ca. 1898, looking west toward the Continental Divide. Several log and wooden-frame buildings are visible; the Vendome Hotel is at the right edge of the picture. Donald C. Kemp took print #7 from about the same point on Spencer Mountain where panorama print #5 was taken. Kemp's photo shows the remains of Eldora. He took print #8 from another point on Spencer Mountain at about the same time as #7, facing northeast. Someone has written (in ink) numbers on the buildings in panorama photo #5. We do not, however, have the list that identifies the numbered buildings. This folder contains 4 broad views of Eldora, Colo. Print #5 is a 2-piece panorama of the town at its peak ca. 1899. Harry H. Lake, prominent businessman of Central City, Colo., took the photo while on vacation. It shows the northern mountain rampart rising 1200' from the valley floor. Mineral Mountain is on the left flank; Eldorado Mountain is on the right side of the rampart. The panorama was shot from a point on Spencer Mountain, looking north.
