The Boulder chapter of the Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War was organized at the instigation of the members of the Nathaniel Lyons Post No. 5, Grand Army of the Republic, Boulder, as an organization for their mutual benefit, in May of 1909. The D.U.V. was active in G.A.R.-sponsored activities, helping with programs, sending flowers and fruit to the ill and homebound, raising funds for the Soldiers and Sailors Home in Monte Vista, Colo., and other charitable work.
