Diary 1892-1895.

This is a daily account of a retired farmer's life, 1 July 1892 through 12 February 1895. During this period, Bateman was still living at Brainard's Hotel. He made a trip through Denver, Colorado Springs and the top of Pike's Peak on August 29 - September 4, then was off again from September 26 to October 19, attending the World's Fair in Chicago. A 2-page list of promissory notes precedes this diary.

James M. Bateman was born in Pembrokeshire, Wales, on 10 July 1830, and died in Boulder, Colorado, on 6 October 1898. He came to Colorado in 1860, and moved to Boulder in 1861. He owned land on the Farmer's Ditch in Boulder; his farm was valued at $7,000 in the 1885 census. In 1890, he sold his farm for $9,500, and lived in Boulder from 1891 until his death in 1898.
