Meet the professor, May 12, 19, 1963 [motion picture]. 1963.

This two reel one hour long black and white film shows Dr. Carl L. Hubbs of the Scripps Institution of Oceanography conducting a class in ichthyology at sea aboard research vessel Spencer F. Baird on May 12 and 19, 1963. Deep sea trawling techniques are explained as the mile deep San Diego Trough is explored. A mid-water trawl is executed and Hubbs describes the specimens retrieved. This film was produced by the Association for Higher Education of the National Education Association and was broadcast by the American Broadcasting Company (ABC).

American ichthyologist and naturalist born Williams, Arizona October 18, 1894. Received A.B. (1916) and A.M. (1917) degrees from Stanford and Ph. D. (1927) University of Michigan. After three years at the Field Museum of Natural History, Chicago, Hubbs served as Curator of Fishes at Michigan's Museum of Zoology (1920-1944) and Professor of Biology at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography, UCSD (1944-1969).
