Gándara letter, 1845 Nov. 18.

Handwritten letter in Spanish, with Spanish transcript and English translation, written by Juan B. Gándara to General Anatasio Bustamante concerning actions of Gen. José Urrea in Sonora following Santa Anna's takeover. Gándara is not specific about Urrea's actions except to say that he expelled Gándara from Gándara's home and business three years earlier.

Acting Governor of the state of Sonora, Mexico from Feb. 1849 to May 1849; brother of Sonoran Governor Manuel Maria Gándara. The Gándara family supported Anatasio Bustamante who was President of Mexico from 1830-32, 1837-39, and 1842. Bustamante was ousted by Santa Anna in 1833.
