Video and audio tapes, positive and negative photographs, correspondence, and printed material relating to the Warner family's collection, publication, and performance of American folk music. These materials contain biographical information on the Warners, extensive documentation of Frank Warner's career as a performer of American folk music, his recordings, his service on the board of directors of the Newport Folk Foundation, and a lawsuit over the origins of the popular song "Tom Dooley." Correspondents in this collection include family members and musicians such as Nathan and Rena Hicks, Roby M. and Buna Vista Hicks, Frank N. and Bessie Proffitt, "Yankee John" Galusha, and Lena Bourne Fish. The singers mentioned above are also represented on the Warners' tapes of performances and interviews. The Warners' original recordings, as well as master copy reproductions of them, are in the American Folklife Center in the Library of Congress. Carl Sandburg, a friend of the Warners, is also represented on the tapes in a lecture, readings, and an interview.
