This collection details the North Carolina activities of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and one of its parent organizations, the Institute of Radio Engineers (IRE). These papers include announcements, reports, and minutes of the meetings held by the sections and subsections in N.C. Additional materials include petitions and correspondence concerning the formation of new subscriptions, the division of the N.C.-Va. section of the IRE and the merger of the IRE with the AIEE (American Institute of Electrical Engineers). Other papers involve the election of officers and the rules and regulations of both organizations. This collection also contains material concerning the history of electricity in N.C.
