Stone Family Papers : [collection] ; 1796-1869 ; manuscript.

Collection consists of a series of letters of the Stone/Samson family dating from 1796 to 1869. Most of the early correspondence is with the Stone family living in Vermont. Other correspondence shows that branches of the family moved to Ohio, Georgia, and eventually Colorado. Amherst Stone settled in Leadville, Colorado and became a judge. Both Amherst and Cyrena Stone lived in Georgia during the Civil War and their letters give some details of the War and the living conditions during Sherman's Atlanta Campaign. Also included in the collection are ten legal documents, mostly deeds, from Vermont ca. 1796-1826.
