Photographs taken and collected by Barnes of places including communities, mines, military posts and other places in Arizona, New Mexico and the Western U.S; subjects including Indians, wildlife, agriculture, and transportation, and portraits of family and friends. Highlights include Pima Indians gathering cotton at Sacaton, Ariz. in 1908, a 1908 flood in Silver City, N.M., an image of the Prescott and Phoenix Stage in 1892, early movie-making (f.216, f.330), launching of the U.S.S. Arizona, penitentes, and views of the 1909 Territorial Fair in Phoenix, Ariz. There are postcards of Navajo Indians and the Mexican Revolution.
