Files for the Dept. of Facility Planning and Office of the University Architect may be found in UNMA 023 and UNMA 028. Both collections follow the same format for file arrangement, building identification, numbering and cross-referencing. Collection UNMA 023 was processed during the Fall of 1996 during the time that Smith Hall was being planned and the buildings on Roma, Yale, Las Lomas and Buena Vista were being slated for razing. For information on these buildings look for the corresponding building file or look in the Smith Hall file. Anything that has to do with buildings, property or development of University of New Mexico is included in collection UNMA 028. The material is collected primarily from the University Architect's office and the University Secretary's office. There is material in this collection that predates the creation of the University Architect's Office. Folders that begin with "Building-" are a good resource for finding dates of initial construction, costs, contractors, architects, locations, etc. Campus building numbers are in (). These numbers do not change over years, although the function of the building may. Dates for buildings reflect occupation date, not the initial construction date.
