George S. Leland Papers 1862-1864

Leland collection contains various letters, papers, and correspondence related to the duties of a Civil War quartermaster. Much of the correspondence concerns requisitions, abstracts, provision estimates, telegrams regarding rations, lists of issues, officer's complaints, special military orders, public letters dealing with private citizens and property, and invoices of subsistence stores and commissary property. Collection also includes a canvas ration conversion chart as well as eight leather-bound issue, or "tally" books that inventory commissary railroad cargo.
