John R. and John H. Buck legal papers, 1824-1933.

Father and son attorneys, John Ransom and John Halsey Buck, served as counsel to the Connecticut River Company. The collection contains correspondence, legal papers, and related material especially related to the company's legal battle with the Holyoke Water Power Company and the dissolution of the company. Two scrapbooks contain newspaper clippings regarding the debate surrounding whether the Connecticut River could be navigated between Hartford, Connecticut, and Holyoke, Massachusetts. Bound transcript copies of court hearings and cases covering these issues are also included.
