Edwin John Allen was born 5 October, 1892. His parents were Edwin John Allen and Sarah Delilah Varney. Shortly after graduation from high school, Edwin was called on a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, to serve as a missionary in Japan. In 1916, Edwin was called into the military, and sent to England. He was aboard the Tuscania, headed toward Ireland, when it was sunk by German fire.
