Guy M. "Brandy" Brandborg was born in Henning, Minnesota on March 3, 1893. In the summer of 1913, Brandborg came to Montana to work in Glacier National Park. That fall, he attended Forest Ranger School in Missoula, Montana and worked for the Forest Service during his summers. Samuel Sinclair "Clair" Maclay was born March 6 1895, on the family homestead about 10 miles south of Lolo, Montana, the oldest son of Samuel S. and Helena "Nellie" (Sinclair) Maclay. He graduated from the University of Montana in 1922 and worked as a bacteriologist in Montana and Oregon. On the death of his father in 1934, he took over operation of the family ranch.
