Edward Daniel Kingsley, born in Freeport, Illinois in 1869, attended Washington University in St. Louis and married Charlotte Wright in 1891. In 1898 he joined the gold rush to the Klondike. In 1900, he moved to Portland, Oregon, where he founded West Oregon Lumber Co.; he died in Portland in 1940.
