John Simpson while pastor of Fishing Creek Presbyterian Church, Chester County, S.C; volume also includes accounts, 1844-1851, containing church member lists, records of church expenditures, religious books sold, and funds donated and borrowed. Land grant and plat, 20 July 1784, of Patrick B. Calhoun, Jr., re 200 acres of land in Ninety-Six District, S.C.; affidavit, 24 June 1785, from Charles Lewis, re plundering of John Simpson's home by Tories; grant and plat, 3 July 1785, of Nicholas Eveleigh, re 640 acres on the Savannah River; 2 land indentures, 1 Nov. and 2 Nov. 1791, conveying property to John Simpson. Also including receipts, 1792-1804, re taxes owed by John Simpson; account, 14 Dec. 17[97], re settlements with Roberts Presbyterian Church; receipt, 14 Dec. 1808, re distibution of slaves from estate of John Simpson; receipt, 19 Mar. 1814, of David Simpson, re money received from John Simpson's estate.

Nicholas Eveleigh (c. 1748 – April 16, 1791) was an American planter and political leader who was a delegate to the Continental Congress for South Carolina in 1781 and 1782. Eveleigh was born in Charleston, Province of South Carolina about 1748. He and his parents moved to Bristol, England around 1755. He remained there until 1774, although he conducted some business related to family property from London. Then he returned to South Carolina where he made his home for the rest of his life. In ...
