George Percy McCallum collection.

This collection consists of a scrapbook dating 1880-1883. It contains newspaper clippings and forms used by the Detroit, Mackinac & Marquette Railroad Company. The articles usually deal with events or places along the route of the railroad, covering such matters as the public domain, immigration, mining, agriculture, business, resources, politics, the State Fair, lumbering, and the Upper Peninsula in general. The collection is arranged as received.

George Percy McCallum was born at Lapeer, Mich., Mar. 27, 1871. In 1890, he entered Albio College. In the fall of 1895, he entered the law dept. of the University of Michigan, earning a L.B. in 1898. He was president of the University of Michigan Republican Club, and chairman of the executive committee of the National League of College Republican Clubs, as well as serving in other organizations.
