Correspondence, legal documents, deeds, plats, mortgages, and other land papers of Augustin Louis Taveau of Georgetown District (later Georgetown County), S.C. Eighteen letters, 16 Apr. 1853-12 Nov. 1859, from S.C. locations identified as The Oaks, North Santee, and Swinton Place, Adam's Run, to Col. James Simons re legal advice, with sketches of plantation boundaries related to a disagreement between Taveau, John H. Hume, Robert Hume, and Pinckney J. Maxwell over sale of African American slaves, and three plantations in Georgetown District: Bear Hill, The Oaks, and Jutland. Land deed, 29 May 1821, between Lewis Augustin Thomas Taveau, Martha Carolina Ball, and John Bryan re sale of 200 acre plantation and thirty slaves; land deed, 10 June 1824, Georgetown District, S.C., re J. John Hume sale of The Oaks plantation to his son Robert Hume; note of title, 3 July 1855, Georgetown District, S.C., re Robert Hume's sale of multiple plantations to A.L. Taveau including Jutland, Bear Hill, and The Oaks plantations.
