Records, 1949-1981.

This collection consists largely of reference files, including catalogs on educational, science, and medical films; descriptive files for both individual film titles and film genres; informational files on organizations such as the Canadian Film Institute, the Council on International Nontheatrical Events (CINE), the British Scientific Film Association, and the International Scientific Film Association (ISFA); materials concerning national and international film festivals, conferences, programs, and forums; and various journals and other printed items. Some of these materials date to the 1950s, before the ASFA was founded. Also contained in the collection are ASFA correspondence, annual and board meeting minutes, by-laws, membership information, reports, publications, and copies of ASFA Notes. A large number of files document "SCI-COM '74" in Rochester, N.Y., the first international symposium jointly sponsored by ASFA and the Canadian Science Film Association on the role of the motion picture in science and technology. Correspondence and notes by members of the 1949 organizing committee are also included in the collection.
