Alma G. Stallworth was born in Little Rock, Ark. in 1932. She graduated from Highland Park Junior College and studied at Wayne State University and Merrill Palmer Institute. She won her first primary without the support of her party and became the youngest black female in the legislature. She was re-elected in 1972 with 97% of the vote.
