The World War II era (1943-1950) case histories (inactive and non-missile) detail hundreds of peripheral nerve casualties and pain cases treated by Livingston; extensive notes and follow-ups are typically accompanied by drawings by Livingston showing areas of injury, pain sensation, and nerve damage.

William Kenneth Livingston was born on 21 October 1892, in Sparta, Wisconsin; received his BA in 1913 from the University of Oregon; M.A. in Zoology (University of Oregon, 1915); M.D. from Harvard (1920); surgical residence at Massachusetts General Hospital (1920-1922); private practice in Portland, Oregon (1922-44) and affiliation with the University of Oregon medical school.
