Address delivered by Ebenezer Rockwood Hoar at the laying of the corner stone of the Memorial Hall at Harvard College, Oct. 6, 1870. Holograph, with emendations and deletions, concerns the proper memorial to the Harvard men who served and died in the War of the Rebellion. Ebenezer Rockwood Hoar, a 1839 graduate of Harvard Law School, was a judge of the Court of Common Pleas (1849-1855), associate justice of the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court (1859-1869), served as U.S. Attorney General (1869-1870) and as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives (1873-1875).
