Typewritten document compiled by the National Intelligencer contains an historic sketch of Marietta, Ohio in remarks made by Woodbridge of Michigan in presenting to the senate on Tuesday, April 9, 1844 a remonstrance against the annexation of Texas to the U.S. from the citizens of Marietta, Ohio. Further details about the soldier colony are added to the congressional address.
