Robert Milledge Charlton (1807-1854) was born in Savannah, Georgia, the son of Judge Thomas Usher Pulaski Charlton and Emily (Walter) Charlton. He was a lawyer, a member of the Georgia Legislature, U. S. District Judge, Judge of the Eastern Judicial Circuit, U. S. Senator, and Mayor of Savannah, Georgia.
