Guide to the Garden Club federation of Massachusetts archives, 1929-1995 (inclusive).

This material documents the work of the Garden Club Federation of Massachusetts from 1929-1995. This collection includes Annual and Executive Board reports from 1960-1987 and Minutes from Annual and Executive Board reports from 1942-1980. There are also annual histories compiled by the club historian from 1927-1992. The club published a newsletter and this collection holds issues from 1979-1992. Other forms of documenting activities were also employed by the club. These include publicity books, books of evidence and scrapbooks, one from 1941-1944 compiled by Lottie A. Leach and the other two both from the years 1974-1975. A summary of awards is also present and includes descriptions and application forms for the Backyard Wildlife Habitat Program, the Roadside Beautification and Blue Star Memorial Highway Certificate of Merit awards.

Prior to 1927 the garden clubs of the state had registered with Mr. Edward I. Farungton, Secretary of Massachusetts Horticultural Society and had been called together by him at intervals for informal meetings.
