Chiefly consisting of travel journals, 1854-1855, re a family trip to Europe including Abraham Van Buren, her sons Singleton, Martin, and Travis Coles Van Buren, and her niece, Mary Singleton McDuffie; both journals include botanical specimens from her journey. Two travel journals, 1854-1855, re travelling to New York, N.Y., from Charleston, S.C., and then to Europe, enrolling Singleton and Martin Van Buren in school in Vivay, France, learning to speak French, travels include Vivay, France, Ravena, Milan, Venice, Bologna, Florence, Rome, Sorrento, and Turin, Italy and Geneva, Switzerland. Entries, re descriptions of sea and rail voyages, chaperoning Mary McDuffie, visiting friends, attending church services, sightseeing, observations about European customs, and death of her brother; also including addresses and comments re various shops in Paris, France and poems written by Sir Charles Young, age 16.
