François Hanriot (1761-1794) was a leader of the French Revolution who played a vital role in the insurrection and the fall of the Girondins. He was elected by the Commune as the permanent Commander of the Armed Forces of Paris in July 1793. He was executed on July 28, 1794, after a failed attempt to rescue Robespierre.
