This collection contains materials relating to teaching, sculpture production, and service to the art community. Includes correspondence and information about the various lecturing positions held by Ted Egri. Class notes and three notebooks from students are included, as well as general information about the schools at which Egri taught. It also contains personal documentation of commissioned sculptures by Egri, drawings, and correspondence between Egri and his clients. The collection contains product data and general information about companies involved with producing materials used by sculptors. Finally, there is information concerning various art committees that Egri served on, both local and national, including the New Mexico Arts Commission.

Ted Egri was born in New York City in 1913. While in the Navy, he worked drafting maps. During his service, Egri drew and painted extensively. Although he did not receive any formal academic degrees in the arts, he studied at art schools in New York City and New Mexico, and eventually became a successful sculptor. In 1950, Egri and his wife move to Taos, N.M. where he taught sculpture, life drawing, still life drawing, and painting, and was a Visiting Lecturer at the University of Wyoming in Lar...
