This collection consists of papers and various materials relating to the life of Donald McDonald Dickinson. It includes scrapbooks relating to his political career covering the date 1884-1917; letterpress books of copies of outgoing letters and other office papers from the firm of Dickinson, Stevenson, Cullen, Warren & Butzel covering the dates 1904-1912; a manuscript on the seal industry dispute between the U.S. and Great Britain (ca. 1900) entitled A study of the dispute between the United States and Great Britain caused by the United States policing of the sealing and fishing industries of the North Pacific area commonly called the Bering Sea by Willard W. Wixsom (28 p.); a manuscript on the arbitration between the U.S. and El Salvador (ca. 1900) entitled In the matter of arbitration between the republics of the United States and Salvador (39 p.); political cartoons from ca. 1900; a ledger for the Dickinson & Ward Express Company for June 23, 1860-Nov. 29, 1860 which has some articles relating to politics and history pasted in it; approx. 40 photographic images, including individual and group views of the Bering Sea Commission and executive cabinet of Grover Cleveland and the Dickinson residence at Trenton, Mich.; and miscellaneous correspondence from 1887 and 1903 including a telegram to President Cleveland.
