The Johns-Manville Corporation Timberland Records are the records of the company's regional office in Natchez, Miss., for the production of forest products. The records document the management of timberlands in southwest Mississippi, including timber and land sales (1947-1964), forestry organizations, personnel, correspondence (1945-1959), company policies, costs and returns (1945-1969), fire control (1945-1971), and wood procurement (1958-1964). The records also include photographs, an unfinished history of the Johns-Manville timberlands (1972), and two scrapbooks (1945-1965).

The H.W. Johns Manufacturing Company (New York, N.Y.) was founded in 1858 for the use of asbestos as a fire resistant roofing material. The Manville Covering Company (Milwaukee, Wis.) was founded in 1886 for the use of asbestos as a heat insulating material. They merged in 1901 to form the H.W.
