The collection consists of materials related to Douglas' work as a radiation biologist with the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the U.S. Public Health Service, and the Nevada Nuclear Waste Study Group; her volunteer work with Soroptimist International (SO); her participation as chair of the Governor's Advisory Committee on Volunteerism (GACV); Friends of Nevada Wilderness; and a few personal materials. Nevadan Geneva Douglas (1932-1993) was a radiation biologist and public information officer for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency between 1959-1991. She was an active member and officer at all levels of Soroptimist International, a service organization for women; chair of the Nevada Governor's Advisory Committee on Volunteerism, 1986; and on the Steering Committee of the Friends of Nevada Wildernes, 1986-1987.
