Collection consists of volumes of individually catalogued, tape recorded, and transcribed reminiscences of persons living in CA. Interviewees include Peter J. Shields, Francis Peloubet Farquhar, Horace Marden Albright, Ida Sproul, Oscar Lewis, Joseph Russell Knowland, Ira Brown Cross, James D. Hart, Louis M. Martini, Walter A. Haas, Earl Warren, Wallace Stegner, the Ghirardelli family, Peter Mondavi, Kurt Herbert Adler, David Pierpont Gardner, Joseph Phelps, Kenneth M. Stampp, and Agustin Huneeus. The UCLA Department of Special Collections owns 715 of the 750-volume set, and there continue to be regular additions.
