Papers of the University Glee Club [manuscript], 1920-1961.

Various programs, attendance rolls, announcements and musical arrangements of the University of Virginia Glee Club, dating from 1920-1961, including the program for the 50th anniversary tour of 1936. Also includes several news articles concerning touring dates of the Glee Club, as well as its preference for old songs over newer, more popular songs. Program for "Facade," 1961, which includes a performance of "Drawings Set No. 3, for clarinet and drums" by assistant professor Sydney Hodkinson and "Sonata for trumpet unaccompanied" by assistant professor David Davis as well a performance of William Walton's "Facade", has been annotated by [Hodkinson?] and is accompanied by a letter from Hodkinson explaining Walton's composition. Also a multilith, 1948, of Stephen Tuttle's handwritten copy of Mendelssohn's "Whoe'er seeketh."

Forerunner was the Carr's Hill Glee Club of 1861. Current club was organized in 1872; known briefly as the Claribel Club, then merged with other groups as the Glee, Mandolin and Banjo Club.
