Gifts to the University of Virginia Since the [Civil] War [manuscript], 1898 Feb 12.

Barringer, as Chairman of the Faculty, gives an account of all gifts received since the Civil War, listed by donor name and amount given. Does not take into account gifts of books, pamphlets, chemical products, specimens for museums, etc., nor does it take into account out of state tuition. The last lines of the pamphlet read, "Does any other property of the state pay so well? Can the state afford to cripple a part of the free school system that pays a cash profit in addition to its annual dividend in equipped manhood and trained chairmanship?" Signed P. B. Barringer.
