Rex Warner manuscripts and letters to Alan McLeod, 1945-1997.

The collection contains Warner's BBC radio scripts, 1945-1956 (What's the point of poetry?; Aspects of contemporary Greek poetry; Reflections on Franz Kafka; Survey on liberty; Religion and philosophy, what is a myth?; Talks for sixth forms, Euripides and Greek drama; The spirit of the age; and Six virtues for authors, audacity); his manuscript notebook for Young Caesar, book II; and the program and his commencement speech, "The Greek and Latin classics," for his honorary doctorate at Rider College, 28 July 1968. The bulk of the collection are letters to Alan Lindsey McLeod, 1964-1986, and from his wife, Frances Warner, to Alan and Marian McLeod, 1986-1997. McLeod began a professional relationship with Warner in 1964 that became a personal one in 1968 after they met in person.
