Kurt Helmuth Dieterle was born on January 20th, 1899 in New Knoxville, Ohio. In 1924, Dieterle joined the Paul Whiteman Orchestra and, from 1924-1935, traveled extensively with Whiteman in the United States and Europe giving live concerts and radio shows.
