ALS, 1863 March 4, "Head Qrs. 15 Army Corps, Camp upon Vicksburg" to General Irvin McDowell.

Sherman sides with General McDowell in his political battle against a "Court of Inquiry" for his actions in the Second Battle of Bull Run, then angrily condemns the press and their "spies" (one of whom he has just successfully prosecuted) who have pushed him to the brink of retirement.
