Proposal for establishment of a living-history museum interpreting rural life in a black farming community of freedmen ca. post-bellum era to 1900, to be located at a site approximately seven miles west of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and to owned and operated by the Freewoods Foundation. Also including brief history of African-American farmers and share-croppers on Waccamaw River in Horry County, S.C., during late 19th and early 20th century and growth of community known as Freewoods, S.C., as residents acquired economic independence that came with ownership of land.
